Better Than City Hall. Way More Fun.
The NYC Marriage Bureau is open Monday to Friday only, 8:30am to 3:45pm. Ceremony slots disappear weeks in advance. You get four guests maximum. The ceremony is approximately 60 seconds with no personal vows. And you will spend more time in the waiting room than actually getting married.
With I Do Drive Thru USA, you get legally married anywhere in New York City — on any day of the week — with a registered officiant who shows up for you.
Visiting NYC? You Can Get Married Here.
Every year thousands of tourists and international couples get legally married in New York City. You do not need to be American. You do not need a US address. All you need is a valid passport, $35, and 24 hours.
No US citizenship or residency required. Marry on a tourist visa or ESTA — completely legal.
Your passport is all the ID you need. No additional documentation required for most couples.
No one-month wait. Unlike Australian law (which requires a NOIM 28 days ahead), New York only needs 24 hours.
One witness only. Your photographer can be your witness — no need to bring anyone else.
Recognised back home. A New York marriage is valid in Australia, the UK, Canada, Europe, and most of the world.
We were born in Australia and we operate in New York. We understand exactly what international couples need — the paperwork, the apostille, the timeline around your trip. We have done this many times.
Where We Will Marry You in NYC
The entire city is your venue. Here are our most popular ceremony locations — but if you have somewhere else in mind, just ask.
Bow Bridge, Bethesda Fountain, the Conservatory Garden, the Ramble. Over 840 acres of New York's most romantic outdoor space. Free for small groups. Extraordinary at sunrise before the crowds arrive.
The Manhattan Bridge perfectly framed by Washington Street cobblestones. One of the most iconic urban backdrops in the world. Extraordinary for elopement photography.
Unobstructed Lower Manhattan skyline from the waterfront. Sunrise here is genuinely unforgettable. Multiple ceremony spots across 85 acres of riverside parkland.
Elevated park above Chelsea with Hudson River views. Industrial, green, and completely cinematic. A genuinely unique NYC ceremony spot that photographs beautifully.
The marble Beaux-Arts steps on Fifth Avenue with the stone lions. After 6pm the steps are quiet and the light is golden. One of the most dramatic free ceremony locations in the city.
No permit needed. Total privacy. Your officiant comes to you. Perfect for tourists who want something intimate and to immediately be in their accommodation as newlyweds.
How It Works — 3 Simple Steps
Visit the NYC City Clerk at 141 Worth Street, Manhattan, or book online via Project Cupid at cityclerk.nyc.gov. Both partners attend together with valid photo ID — a foreign passport is accepted. Takes about 30 minutes. You leave with your licence in hand.
New York law requires a 24-hour wait after your licence is issued. Use the time to explore the city, have a pre-wedding dinner, and get excited. Your licence is valid for 60 days from this point.
Your I Do Drive Thru USA officiant meets you at your chosen location. The ceremony takes 2-7 minutes. You sign the licence. You are legally married in New York City. Your certificate is mailed within 6-8 weeks — or collect it in person before you leave.
