✅ Step 1: What You Need to Apply for a New York Marriage License

Before your appointment, make sure both partners have valid, government-issued photo ID that shows your full name, date of birth, and photo. Accepted forms include:

  • Passport from any country
  • New York State driver’s license or learner's permit
  • IDNYC card
  • U.S. Certificate of Naturalization
  • Employment Authorization Card or Green Card

📅 Step 2: Schedule a Marriage License Appointment in NYC

Use Project Cupid to schedule your appointment. Walk-ins are not accepted at any NYC City Clerk offices. Choose “Marriage License (in person)” when booking and complete the form. Appointments are released weekly on Thursdays at 9 AM.

  • Your marriage license
  • Valid photo ID for both partners
  • One witness over the age of 18 with valid ID
  • Up to 4 guests (including a photographer if you want one!)

✉️ Your official Certificate of Marriage Registration will arrive by mail in ~20 days. If you get married at the City Clerk’s Office, you may receive it the same day.
